Bitcoin Campus Zambia: Adopt & Adapt Southern Tour 🇿🇲
A 500+ km Bitcoin journey from Lusaka to Livingstone
What happens when 15 Zambian students leave Lusaka and travel more than 500 kilometres through Southern Zambia while putting Bitcoin to the test?
We're going to find out.
Bitcoin Campus Zambia is taking Bitcoin beyond the classroom with the Adopt & Adapt Southern Tour, a seven-day student-led journey from Lusaka to Livingstone.
We'll travel through:
Lusaka Kafue Mazabuka Monze Choma. Kalomo Zimba Livingstone
Along the way, we'll attempt to use Bitcoin and Lightning for real everyday needs, including food, accommodation, transport and supplies.
But this isn't a tour designed to prove that Bitcoin works everywhere.
We're going to document where it works, where it doesn't, what challenges people face, and what we can learn from the experience.
What we'll do
We'll speak directly with local businesses and communities about Bitcoin.
We'll attempt real Bitcoin and Lightning payments.
We'll document successful and unsuccessful payments.
We'll explore connectivity and payment challenges along the route.
We'll identify businesses interested in accepting Bitcoin.
We'll help willing merchants display "Bitcoin Accepted Here" stickers.
We'll document the students' experiences and publish what we learn after the journey.
Why this matters
Bitcoin adoption isn't something that can be understood from a classroom alone.
You have to put it into people's hands.
You have to try paying for lunch with it.
You have to see what happens when the internet is unreliable.
You have to talk to the shop owner who has never heard of Lightning.
You have to experience what works and what doesn't.
That's what Adopt & Adapt is about.
This is a Zambian student-led experiment designed to understand Bitcoin from the ground up, in our own communities and on our own roads.

Focus: Bitcoin, Lightning, education, merchant engagement and real-world experience
Follow the journey
We'll be sharing stories, photos, videos, merchant experiences and payment experiments throughout the journey.
At the end, Bitcoin Campus Zambia will publish a public report documenting what we discovered.
We're inviting Bitcoiners, educators, builders, communities and supporters around the world to follow the journey and help us put Bitcoin to the road.
